Haneda at the end of the year

December 28, 2022 It’s a sunny Wednesday morning with an expected high of 5 degrees Celsius.
Yesterday I flew with JAL for the first time in a while, but Haneda is divided into the north and south wings, so I mistakenly checked my baggage in the south wing first, and then realized that my departure was from the north wing. After all, it seems that it does not matter whether you check in your baggage in the north or south wing. I was able to safely receive my baggage at the airport of my arrival destination. I thought I had enough time to arrive at the airport one hour before departure because it was the end of the year, but the long line at the gate took up a lot of time, and it was just about time for departure. The flight took off more than 20 minutes after the departure time, probably due to the congestion. The coffee I received in the almost full cabin was therapeutic. I have a history of headaches from flying, so perhaps the coffee tasted even better because it was supposed to be good for that.
I went to bed early and slept soundly without waking up until morning, which was rare for me, perhaps because of my fatigue. My family was still asleep, so I made miso soup and had breakfast by myself while waiting for them to wake up.
Today, I am going to accompany my wife to the hospital to have the doctor explain about her condition and her future.
I was relieved to see my wife again yesterday, as she was more energetic than I had expected and had a good appetite. However, perhaps due to the food restrictions imposed during her three-plus weeks in the hospital, her back and lower body have lost weight and flesh, and the evidence that she has survived the illness is apparent on the outside. The evidence that she has overcome her illness is evident from her appearance as well. After he was discharged from the hospital at the end of last week, I expressed my gratitude to him for the support he has given to my child, including helping him with his meals.
He showed me the materials of the research presentation he has been working on recently, as January is the peak month for his school. The PowerPoint presentation was all in English, and included information about polymers, such as the shell of a tortoise, which I had not been familiar with. I was very impressed. I would like to thank him for taking the trouble to return home early for my wife’s case, and I will send her off from here on the 30th.
